How Augmented Reality Excels in Automobile Industries? | Sanjay Pasari

 A number of automakers, including BMW, Jaguar, Mazda, and Mini, have already incorporated augmented reality (AR) into their current models. The screen in the center console of the car, which is effectively a computer inside a dashboard, allows the vehicles to provide drivers with more information about their surroundings in real time, right before their eyes. The speedometer, land navigation, and directions may presently be shown via augmented reality, but things are going to get much better.

According to a well know automobile Industry’s automobile engineer Sanjay Pasari, “It is predicted that AR in automobiles will move from the dashboard to our windscreens over the next five to ten years”. This was presented by Mercedes-Benz in their DICE concept film, which stands for Dynamic & Intuitive Control Experience. This technology's future is undoubtedly fascinating and appears to be on the upswing.

There are four different ways Augmented Reality (AR) is going to hit and change the automobile industry.  

Intelligent Terrain Mapping

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is regarded as the first automobile to successfully integrate a "next level" standard of augmented reality, going beyond merely showing the vehicle's speed or fuel consumption. Mercedes-Benz was a pioneer in this area.

The GLE features a built-in live camera view and an AR navigation interface that can overlay information and navigational directions over things in real time. The motorist may see mapping information such as turn directions, street names, and building addresses as they pass by. They appear to hover over places no matter how quickly or slowly the automobile is driving because the technology adjusts the speed and proximity of the car to the object. These tidbits of knowledge live track the landscape as the car passes.

Augmented Marketing

When used in automobiles, augmented reality advertising may promote movies, show your balance as you pass a bank, or even identify certain pairs of shoes being worn by a bystander and place a virtual billboard directly on your windshield. According to Ruby Garage, the emotional connection—being able to practically see and feel the object—is what makes AR advertising so compelling to the viewer. Additionally, it is less expensive than conventional newspaper advertising.

The realms of augmented reality and marketing will not only converge in the automotive industry; they will also help businesses advertise their automobiles to prospective new customers. The AR marketing effort used by Land Rover to promote the release of their Discovery Sport vehicle is an illustration of this. This aims to reduce the gap between the vehicle's announcement and its actual arrival in fully constructed.

Wearing a VR headset allowed users to see a lifelike 3D model appear in front of their clients' eyes in the midst of the showroom! Customers are now able to take a thorough virtual tour of the vehicle even though the actual vehicle is still being built at the plant. According to BCG, 90% of consumer advertisers either plan to utilize AR in their marketing efforts or are already using it. It is clear that AR is here to stay.

Intuitive Road Safety

In terms of enhancing road safety utilizing AR, PSA Groupe, the French company that owns several global automakers including Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel, and Vauxhall, has already made progress. The team created a heads-up display device that beams light onto the car's windshield. Lane keeping assistance, obstacle warning, and pedestrian identification are among the safety features.

Considering that it just covers a portion of the windscreen, this isn't the whole augmented reality experience we had in mind, but it's undoubtedly a start. To give you a sense of what this technology could look like in the future, we developed the image you see above. Weather warnings might be added to warn drivers of impending rain or thunderstorms, and proximity sensors could be added to inform the driver of the presence of other vehicles in their immediate vicinity. Therefore, if necessary, they can take action to prevent the peril that is approaching.

Automated Parking Assistance

The following phase will do more than merely display the visual on a camera installed on the dashboard. Future connected cars will be able to maintain a continual internet connection, which will allow AR to detect open spots in a crowded parking lot and highlight them to the driver in real time on the windscreen. The price of the parking place per hour, as well as operating hours and other essential information, will also be shown on the windscreen.

The daylight mode in this instance of AR is the most exciting feature. Some people have theorized—and this is just speculation—that the windscreen may be equipped with cutting-edge infrared cameras that would turn on dark parking lots and side alleyways at the driver's command. Even though it might seem a bit unrealistic right now, this was just too great to leave it off our list.
